Chef of the Fest & People's Choice Award
The largest culinary showdown in Southern California returns to the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival! 2013 Chef of the Fest winner Chef Rich Sweeney of R Gang Eatery, wowed the judges with his duck fat-fried beignets, burnt orange cream, smoked duck "dust" and crispy glazed duck skin.
Celebrated as one of the largest culinary showdowns in Southern California the Chef of the Fest Competition at the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival challenges seasoned and up-and-coming chefs in the San Diego culinary scene to prove their skills in the kitchen and at the Festival's Grand Tasting.
Judge this year's Chef of the Fest Competition for yourself during the Grand Tasting Event on Saturday, November 22. The People's Choice Award allows you, the attendee, to vote for your favorite dish at the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival via text on your cell phone.
Details: The People's Choice Award Winner will be announced at 2:45 PM. All votes must be made by 2:45 PM in order for it to count.

How It Works: Each restaurant has a unique voting code. To vote, simply send a text message to the pre-designated number and in the body of the message include a voting code, like 1234. Codes will be provided at the Grand Tasting Event entrance, where you will receive a flier with instructions on how to vote.
This year, we're excited to announce that we have partnered with the annual Sommelier Challenge International Wine Competition! During the weekend of September 20 & 21, 2014, more than 800 wines from various countries will be evaluated by a team of certified Sommeliers from destinations such as New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego in hopes of winning Platinum and Gold medals.
We will be offering an exclusive tasting of the award-winning wines at the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival's The Vault: Reserve + New Release Tasting on Friday, November 21, 2014, on the Hornblower Inspiration.

Silent & Live Auctions
Every year the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival partners with the American Institute of Wine & Food and the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs to raise scholarship funds for continuing education in the culinary arts and enology/viticulture. Funds for the scholarships are raised during the silent auction at The Vault: Reserve + New Release Tasting and the live auction at Wine Spectator's Celebrity Chef Dinner Presented by Kia K900, where items such as big bottle formats, jet-setting vacation packages and items perfect for the wine and food enthusiast are auctioned.

AIWF Culinary and Enology Arts Scholarships
The American Institute of Wine & Food (AIWF) is a non-profit educational organization founded on the premise that gastronomy is essential to the quality of human existence. The AIWF is dedicated to promoting health and well-being through the enjoyment of good food and drink and the fellowship that comes from dining together around the table. The AIWF was founded as a 501(c)(3) educational organization. It was established in 1981 by Robert Mondavi, the late Julia Child and others to promote a forum for the study and enjoyment of gastronomy.
The San Diego Chapter of The American Institute of Wine & Food will award scholarships for the pursuit of culinary arts and enology/viticulture in full-time or continuing education programs. The amounts will range from $500 to $5,000 and may be used for study within or outside of San Diego County. All schools must be accredited and offer continuous relevant hands-on, in- person experience. As the money for the scholarships is raised by the San Diego Chapter, they are only awarded to people who are connected to San Diego by school, work, or recent involvement in food, wine or hotel management in the area. The scholarship money may be used for study within or outside of San Diego County.
Applications will be accepted until Monday, September 29, 2014. The scholarship(s) will be awarded on or about November 20, 2014 to be used during the coming year at the accredited school, college or university specified on the application. The scholarship award is not transferable without the written permission of the Scholarship Committee, which permission may be denied at the total discretion of the Committee. Scholarship awards fund tuition or other school fees and will be paid directly to the school.

Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Scholarships
The Chaîne is an international organization with headquarters in Paris, France and is the oldest and largest food and wine society in the world. The American administrative offices are in Madison, New Jersey. About 80 countries have Baillages (Chapters) with about 22,000 members worldwide. The Chaîne was founded in 1248 in France, hence the name of the guild that was formed. It continued to be primarily a guild for chefs until its renewal after WWII when it grew to include restaurateurs, hoteliers, winemakers, and lovers of fine food and wine.
The Chaîne awards scholarships for the pursuit of culinary arts and enology/viticulture or hotel management in full or part-time accredited continuing education programs. The scholarships typically range from $1,000 to $5,000 and the funds do not need to be repaid. All schools must be accredited, and offer continuous relevant hands-on, in- person experience. Known as “The Painter of Chefs,” his expressive, celebratory paintings go beyond literal depiction to honor the most prolific chefs of our time by painting them and preserving them historically on canvas.
Christopher M.’s superior technique has garnered much attention. He was named the official Poster Artist of the 2008 International Artexpo Las Vegas after having painted “Savor the Moment,” a clever depiction of a chef enjoying the fruits of his labor. He has also been honored as the Celebrity Artist & Poster Artist for the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival, Poster Artist for the Oregon Food & Wine Festival, among other honors.

Looking for a fun and exciting way to meet some of the most influential people in the culinary arts industry? Volunteer for the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival! A large part of the event's success is due to the participation of community volunteers. Some intern credit may apply.
Tasks will include pre-event setup, auction lot administration, exhibitor relations, registration, security support, and post-event cleanup.

Attend The Grand Tasting Event as a Member of the Trade
Trade Tasting at the Grand Tasting Event

If you are interested in attending the Grand Tasting Event as a member of the Trade, you must complete the Trade Tasting Registration. All Trade pass requests must undergo a qualification process. Qualified Trade members must be professionally involved in the purchase and/or sale of wine.
The Trade Ticket Fee is $75 per ticket for the first two (2) trade tickets. As members of the trade, you may purchase up to four (4) additional qualified trade tickets to the Grand Tasting Event with Trade access for $130 per ticket (this is $35 off face value of the tickets, which are sold for $165 per ticket).
You will be required to provide your business card at registration for the Grand Tasting Event on November 22, 2014. Submission of your trade reservation does not guarantee admission. The San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival reserves the right to refuse admission to any person without proper Trade identification or Trade qualification.
NOTE: If your trade registration request is denied, your credit card will receive a full refund, and you will receive a notification of denial.
No registration accepted after November 3, 2014. Trade must register on-site after the cut-off date. On-site registration fee is $150 per person. There is limited space for Trade Attendees. No one under the age of 21 permitted, including infants.

Safety & Responsibility
Wine enthusiast safety and responsible tasting is always encouraged when enjoying wine, beer and spirits at the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival. While tasting, remember to drink lots of water and spit- it's totally acceptable.
To ensure a safe enjoyable experience for all attendees of Festival events, please refrain from bringing pets and animals.
Due to the close quarters of this event, we ask that a smoke free environment is respected in consideration of others' health and palates. Should any medical situations arise, a first aid station and medic will be available during the tasting.

All tickets are non-refundable. Program subject to change without notice. Please reserve early, as limited space is available for each event. These events are expected to sell out.
No one under 21 will be admitted, including infants. ID's will be checked at the gate. All tastings / samples are included in ticket prices - there are no additional fees for tasting. Alcohol will stop being served at 2:45 PM at the Grand Tasting Event on Saturday, November 22. Food and alcohol will last as long as vendors have product.
All tickets are subject to service fees. Our tickets are processed through a third party, which charges a convenience fee per ticket to offset operational and product costs. Phone order, fax, or mail in ticket fees are $4 per ticket, internet "print at home" tickets are $4 per ticket.

BILLING INFORMATION VERIFICATION
Orders are processed only after a billing address, and other billing information, has been verified. Occasionally, we receive incorrect billing or credit card account information for a ticket order that can delay processing and delivery. In these cases, Customer Service will attempt to contact you, using the information provided at the time of purchase. If Customer Service is unable to reach you after its initial attempt, Customer Service may cancel your order and may sell your tickets to another customer without further notice.
PRICING AND OTHER ERRORS
If the amount you pay for a ticket is incorrect regardless of whether because of an error in a price posted on this website or otherwise communicated to you, or you are able to order a ticket before its scheduled on-sale or presale date or you are able to order a ticket that was not supposed to have been released for sale, then: The Promoter will have the right to cancel that ticket (or the order for that ticket) and refund to you the amount that you paid. This will apply regardless of whether because of human error or a transactional malfunction of this website.
UNLAWFUL RE-SALE OF TICKETS
Unlawful resale of tickets (or attempted resale) is grounds for seizure and cancellation without compensation. A ticket shall not be used for advertising, promotions, contests or sweepstakes, unless formal written authorization is given by the Event Promoter, provided that even if such consent is obtained, any use of Event Promoter's trademarks and other intellectual property is subject to the Event Promoter's consent.
Occasionally, events are canceled or postponed by the promoter, team, band or venue. Should this occur, we will attempt to contact you to inform you of refund or exchange procedures for that event. For exact instructions on any canceled or postponed event, please check the event information online or contact us. If a refund is issued, then the Promoter will most likely give you a refund by issuing a credit to the credit card that you used to purchase that ticket, and the holder of the ticket will not be able to physically present it for a refund.
Customer Service typically only offers refunds and/or exchanges based on the promoter's, team's or venue's instructions. Customer Service is not obligated to issue a refund except to the extent that the promoter, team or venue responsible for bringing you the event (1) instructs us to issue a refund, and (2) provides us with the ticket funds necessary to issue refunds. In order to receive a refund or an exchange that may be offered, you will have to comply with the promoter's, team's or venue's instructions or deadlines, which, along with the decision about whether or not to issue a refund or an exchange, may be at the promoter's, team's or venue's discretion.
