Village Arts Outreach Book Making Workshop (February 1)

On February 1st from 1:30 – 4:00 pm, Michelle Montrose leads a hands-on bookbinding workshop, offering participants the opportunity to create their own bound books.

Solare Cooking Classes (February 1, 8 & 22)

The Solare Cooking Classes offer a truly hands-on experience allowing each student to create Italian cuisine themselves to make at home. The classes are not just a “demonstration”. They are held pretty much every other Saturday, and the fun typically starts at 10:30am at Solare (10am for some classes) with an Italian-style coffee of your choice. Italian wine is served for students interested in “cooking with wine”.

Onigiri Workshop at Beshock Ramen (February 2)

Join Beshock, JETRO, and TABLE FOR TOW USA for an onigiri workshop, hosted by Mr. Fujii from Ocean Fresh. Participants will also get an Onigiri Tote Bag as well as a Japanese seafood presentation. All proceeds go to support global food security efforts.

Part of the Artifact at Night Series, join Artifact for a dinner inspired by the cuisine of Brazil. The meal is curated by by Culinary Director Tim Kolanko, alongside Chefs Wesley Johnson and Tony Coito.

Keepers of the Culture at the San Diego African American Museum of Fine Art (February 22)

The San Diego African American Museum of Fine Art, in collaboration with the San Diego History Center, honors cultural leaders at its annual Keepers of the Culture event on February 22, 2025. This special evening recognizes individuals and organizations making a lasting impact on Black culture in San Diego and beyond.

This year’s honorees include California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., for her leadership in politics and education, the Cooper Family Foundation for its role in establishing San Diego’s largest Juneteenth celebration, Ron Dhanifu for his contributions to jazz and cultural preservation, and Martha R. Logan for 75 years of service in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

The evening begins with a reception featuring Grammy Award-winning record producer Kamau Kenyatta at 5:00 PM, followed by the program at 6:00 PM. Admission is free, but space is limited.
