Recycle Corks for a Cause at the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival + Win Swag and Receive Discounts on Great Wines

You are here:

For the first time ever, the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival is introducing to the annual celebration a festival-wide cork recycling initiative through partnership with the 100% Cork campaign of the Portuguese Cork Association (APCOR). A single cork stopper balances over 70 times it’s weight in carbon, and recycling natural cork into everyday products is important to the continued retention of CO2. Wine lovers will leave this year’s festival with a knowledge of cork recycling and sustainability that they can pass on to others!

Cork recycling bins will be available on site at The Grand Decant and Grand Tasting for participating wineries to dispose of corks from the event. Attendees are also encouraged to bring their natural corks from home to be recycled. The recycling program does not include plastic or synthetic stoppers, wire, foil, screw caps, or DIAM stoppers, which undermine the purity and quality of the recycled ground cork batches.

Know Your Corks

As a thank you for participating in the program, attendees who recycle corks at the 100% Cork booth will receive an exclusive discount on wines from 100% Cork partner wineries at wine.com/choosecork and be entered to win a prize package including:

  • A mixed case of wines from 100% Cork partner wineries
  • A pair of SOLE x United by Blue Jasper Chukka Shoes made using ReCork recycled cork
  • Pairs of SOLE Performance Footbeds made using ReCork recycled cork
  • Discounts on wines from 100% Cork partner wineries through the 100% Cork campaign sustainability partner Wine.com
  • A pair of Two Day Weekend Passes to attend the 2022 San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival

The festival-wide cork recycling initiative is made possible by the services of ReCORK, North America’s largest natural wine cork recycling program, with 128 million recycled corks and counting. ReCORK’s mission is to inspire positive environmental change and a carbon negative future by promoting the use and recycling of natural cork.

When all the festival fun comes to a close, ReCORK will grind down the thousands of corks recycled during the event to calculate the carbon sequestration total — with hundreds of wine lovers, the impact will be huge!
