About

Born in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Chef Felipe Meneses Pelayo represents a new generation of Mexican chefs redefining regional cuisine through contemporary techniques while staying rooted in tradition. His cooking draws inspiration from local fishermen, farmers, mezcal producers, and traditional cooks, celebrating the biodiversity and cultural richness of Guerrero through elegant, ingredient-driven dishes.

His accolades include representing Angustina at the California Winemasters since 2023, induction into the Académie Culinaire de France – Délégation Mexique in 2024, and recognition of Angustina Mezcal & Cocina among Mexico’s 250 Best Restaurants for three consecutive years (2024–2026). In 2025, he debuted at Food & Wine Palm Desert, introducing American audiences to Guerrero’s cuisine.

Felipe currently serves as Executive Chef and Co-owner of Angustina Mezcal & Cocina, Los Narvales, Importados Nacionales, Casa Angustina Catering & Service, and the immersive dining concept Clandestina. For him, every dish is a way of preserving culture and sharing Guerrero’s story with the world.
