Chef Ivan is the man behind the meat. Originating from Mexicali, Mexico, he started his culinary journey at Kous Kous and has moved his way through to Cucina Urbana, Puerto La Boca and Carnitas Snack Shack where he found his passion for competing. Chef Ivan is a two-time winner of the SONO Chili Cook Off and is a regular competitor at the Del Mar BBQ State Championship. In addition to being a Pitmaster at The Deck, he also manages Smokehouse Kings Catering and is a member of San Diego’s Five Chef Society.
