Julien Fayard is a highly respected French-born winemaker based in Napa Valley, renowned for blending rigorous French training with California terroir to craft elegant, balanced wines. Raised in the French Riviera and starting his winemaking journey at age 16, he gained experience in Provence rosé production at his family’s estate, followed by stints at prestigious Bordeaux properties like Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Smith Haut Lafitte. After relocating to Napa in 2006—initially working as an assistant to Philippe Melka—he spent years honing his craft, eventually becoming one of the region’s top consulting winemakers for brands including Purlieu, Covert Estate, Brion, and Afterwords Wines. With over two decades of expertise, Julien now produces his own acclaimed labels under Julien Fayard Wines, emphasizing purity, site expression, and emotional connection through limited-production, terroir-driven Cabernet Sauvignon and other varietals.
