About

María is a native Mexican who is in love with her culture. She has a degree in tourism and, during her studies, had the opportunity to live closely with the traditions and customs of the Wixarika community. This community is mainly located in States of Mexico such as Jalisco, Zacatecas, Durango, San Luis Potosí, and Nayarit, where María was born and raised.

Even though Wixarika community is one of the Mexican native cultures most resilient to outside influences, they have struggled to keep traditions alive.

The love for María’s roots goes with her wherever she gos, and that’s why Maria Innata arose. Maria Innata wants to contribute to cultural preservation through art and craft in many forms, to show the wealth of colors, texture, and visions. The Wixarika art is not just a simple piece, every pattern and color has a meaning, and they all tell stories.

Maria Innata wants to be the voice of Mexican Artisans, the voice of remote communities, of the indigenous people that are not spoken about often but are the reason for our origin.

She wants the talent and the culture that Mexico has, and the love that she has for her homeland, to be known everywhere.
