Chef Oscar García Bretón is the founder of Brío Cocina Local in Oaxaca de Juárez. Born and raised in Oaxaca, he found in cooking a way to tell the story of his land and the people who nourish it.

At Brío, he creates contemporary cuisine deeply rooted in Oaxaca, working closely with local producers, foragers, and fishermen while exploring the region’s ingredients, techniques, and traditions through his own perspective.

Since its opening, Brío has become recognized for its culinary vision and hospitality, earning a place in the MICHELIN Guide and receiving the OpenTable Diners’ Choice 2026.
