About

San Diego-based writer W. Scott Koenig has traveled throughout Mexico and Baja California for over twenty years. He founded AGringoInMexico.com in 2012 to report on Mexican travel destinations, food, culture, and adventure.

Scott is considered a key influencer in Baja California and San Diego. AGringoInMexico.com and its affiliated social channels have a loyal regional following and are viewed by thousands in the US and Mexico every day.

Scott is author of the book Seven Days in The Valle: Baja California’s Wine Country Cuisine and has written columns for Dining Out San Diego, San Diego Red, and Discover Baja. He’s been published at Newworlder.com, Baja.com, The Baja Times, Destino Magazine, The Oaxaca Times, San Diego Magazine, and The Yucatan Times.

Working with licensed transportation and tour partners, Scott curates and leads culinary tours of Baja California for friends, clients, journalists, chefs, educators, and culinary professionals. He has helped fix film and video productions in the region and has worked with Netflix, the Food Channel, the BBC, NPR, Unilever, Migrationology, and the Culinary Institute of America.

As a public figure, Scott has made a number of in-person and on-air appearances. He was host and co-producer and conducts on-air restaurant reviews for the YouTube show Baja Window to the South, featured on podcasts by KPBS and others, and has helped judge
culinary events.

Scott has built a bi-national network of culinary professionals, business leaders, tourism officials, media agencies, writers, and photographers. These relationships allow A Gringo in Mexico to connect people to benefit our content and assist in promoting business, education, and the arts in the San Diego/Baja California mega-region.

Scott is the owner of Koenig Creative LLC in San Diego and counts several Fortune 1000 companies as his clients. He has 40 years of experience in marketing, creative direction, and graphic design.
