If there’s one thing our fellow foodies know how to do, it’s eat (and sip) for a cause. That’s why we’re excited to spotlight Baja Bash, a sunset celebration of sustainable seafood, local ingredients, and the chefs we can’t get enough of from both sides of the border!
You’ve tasted their brilliance at SDFW – Javier Plascencia, JoJo Ruiz, William Eick, Kelston Moore – and now they’re serving their signature style at this June’s oceanfront gathering hosted by WILDCOAST.
Baja Bash – The Delicious Details
Baja Bash is the annual fundraiser from WILDCOAST, an international conservation group dedicated to protecting and restoring the most iconic coastlines and ocean ecosystems across California and Baja California. This year marks 25 years of impact, and they’re celebrating in style on Saturday, June 14, with their 13th annual Baja Bash at the stunning Montbleau Estate in Solana Beach.
Set against a backdrop of the coastal lagoon and glittering Pacific, guests will enjoy gourmet food stations led by some of the region’s most acclaimed chefs, including:
- Javier Plascencia (Animalón, Finca Altozano, Jazamango)
- JoJo Ruiz (Lionfish, Temaki, Serea)
- William Eick (Matsu)
- Kelli Crosson (The Lodge at Torrey Pines)
- Karen Krasne (Extraordinary Desserts)
- Nic Webber & Jacob Jordan (24 Suns)
- José Cepeda (Quixote)
- David McIntyre (Lana)
- Kelston Moore (Haven Farm + Table / Fox Point Farms)
You’ll also find fresh, sustainable seafood; produce straight from local farms; and beverage pairings that showcase the best of Baja and beyond, including Solento tequila, Olavida mezcal, Gray Whale gin, wines from the Russian River Valley, and brews from Baja Brewing.
WILDCOAST – The Cause
WILDCOAST’s mission goes beyond the shoreline. They’re working to protect over 38 million acres of coastal and ocean habitat, including sea turtle nesting beaches, whale breeding lagoons, coral reefs, and mangrove forests – ecosystems that not only shelter wildlife, but also provide natural solutions to climate change. From removing 250,000 pounds of waste at the U.S./Tijuana border to restoring carbon-capturing wetlands, their work is as impactful as it is inspiring.
All proceeds from Baja Bash directly support these high-impact programs, making every bite, sip, and bid in the evening’s auction a step toward protecting the wild coastlines we love.
