Black History Month is a time to celebrate the invaluable contributions of Black people throughout history, and today. It is a time to reflect on the struggles and triumphs of Black individuals who have fought tirelessly for equality and justice. Black History Month also serves as a reminder of the ongoing fight for racial justice in our society. This month provides an opportunity for education, awareness, and celebration of Black culture and history. Let us all take this time to honor Black excellence.

A James Beard award nominated chef, LA Times best selling author, public speaker,  and member of Bad Boyz of Culinary, discover the remarkable journey of Chef Keith Corbin as he shares a tale of personal transformation and redemption through the world of cuisine.

 

The kitchen saved Keith, and he is dedicated to providing these same opportunities to others. Bad Boyz of Culinary’s mission is to uplift black chefs in San Diego through mentorship, scholarships, culinary programs, and events. Mentees of Chef Keith Corbin are encouraged to fail and grow under his guidance where they are included in decision-making, and work as a close team. Keith’s restaurant not only fosters this environment, but also transports diners back to cherished memories.

A non-profit partner of the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival, Bad Boyz of Culinary is a collective of chefs dedicated to highlighting African American chefs and creating awareness through mentorship, events, scholarships, and programs. Founders Chef Quinnton Austin and Chef Kelston Moore came up with the idea of having different chefs from each walk and collective of the culinary industry supporting each other. Their mission was to pull different aspects of the culinary world together and help everyone. Whether it’s applying for that restaurant or executive chef job, working on a yacht, or running a food truck, Bad Boyz of Culinary provides training, resources, and mentorship to help chefs reach their dreams.
