Andrea Priego

Cenzontle Talavera

Passionate and proud of her Mexican culture, Andrea Priego shares with us the art of Talavera (considered as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) Talavera is a typical pottery from Puebla that consists of an artisanal process that arises from majolica ceramics, a technique that has its origins in Muslim crafts.

Andrea has lived a large part of her life in Tijuana and completed her engineering studies in renewable energies in Puebla, Mexico, where she is originally from; her taste for her culture and her roots led her to highlight the art of Talavera, creating “Cenzontle Talavera” in 2021 in San Diego, California.

In this project she has also involved typical food such as Polvorones sevillanos and Mole handmade directly from Puebla, but it is only seasonal. Andrea and her team have participated in different exhibitions in San Diego; her mission is to highlight the Mexican art, what is handmade and authentic from her city of origin and at the same time support the labor of local artisans who give life to these works of art, among this art we can find beautiful things like mugs, thermos, tequila shots, bracelets and much more.
